Midas Ski-Spa Development, Bansko, Bulgaria

A unique development of 300, 1, 2 and 3 Bedroom Luxury Apartments.

The position of our development is second to none. It sits at the foot of the Pirin Mountains and shares a 300m border with the new Ian Woosnam Golf course.

Panoramic view of the unseeded golf course from the edge of our plot

The elongated shape of the plot has enabled us to design the development one apartment wide. This means that every single apartment will have unprecedented views. One balcony will look down on our beautiful landscaped gardens and outdoor swimming pools and out across the 1st, 9th and 18th tees and up into the Pirin Mountains as seen in the photograph above. The other balcony will have views across an unspoilt valley and over to a second mountain range in the distance.

Plan showing two typical apartments and the east and west facing balconies

The feature of the development that really sets us apart from the competition is the huge glass atrium that runs along one side of the entire development and will fully enclose all of the east facing balconies. Inside this very large atrium we will create an organic, tropical paradise based around several interlinked, multilevel walk-in swimming pools, kids can paddle at the waters edge. This undulating oasis will contain state of the art spa facilities including saunas, steam rooms, Jacuzzis, plunge pools, massage areas even a snow room. A number of restaurants, bars and shops will seamlessly link into the atrium environment. Imagine returning to your apartment from the ski slopes and being able to look out onto an uninterrupted view of the mountains from one balcony then, take off your salopettes, put on your shorts and have a gin and tonic on your other balcony while you watch your kids play in the beautiful pools below, fantastic. In the summer season you will be able to return from a lovely Alpine walk in the morning, play 18 holes in the afternoon, spend early evening on your balcony watching the last of the golfers come in at the 18th and then finish with a lovely meal at one of the restaurants.

This development is truly a cut above the rest as you can see from the main atrium design below.

About Bansko

Bulgaria is on course to get full membership of the European Union in January 2007, but accession may be put back by a year unless Sofia takes action in a few key policy fields. Once the country becomes a member of the European Union we should expected to see the same steady economic growth that has occurred in the other new member states. Overlay this effect with the present growth and it is not difficult to see a very bright future.

Bulgaria is already receiving massive EU subsidies for new roads and general infrastructure. Bansko sits just off the main road linking Sofia with Greece and will therefore be one of the first new roads to be completed. At the moment in a number of places the road is single carriage way and is in a poor condition. Clearly renewing the road will have a very positive effect on the area. Bansko has been a popular resort for a number of years. Historically it was the Bulgarians themselves and people from neighbouring countries, especially Greece, who were the main users. In the last few years however the resort has really opened itself up to a wider European audience. We believe this has happened for the following reasons:

  • General increased marketing
  • The building of many new, world class, facilities in Bansko. (There are plans a foot to build brand new luxury, alpine look, Hilton hotel around the same Golf course as our development)
  • Many new ski lifts have been built including one of the longest in Europe. (a new 8 seater gondola started working last season and is over 6 km long connecting the town with Banderishka meadow. The resort possesses approximately 26 km of lifts in total)
  • Cheap fights have now begun to fly into Sofia and the number of cheap flights from the UK is set to increase.
  • The introduction of many more summer based activities such as down hill mountain biking, golf, horse riding, walking, hiking, several natural spars, climbing, paragliding, rare alpine flower tours and many more.
  • The increase in property prices in Bulgaria has firmly focused the world’s property developers/investors on Bansko and has lead to a great deal of coverage in the general media.
  • Ever increasing prices across the Alps have made the much cheaper Bulgarian ski destinations more and more attractive

These massively positive influences have made the 2006 season the busiest year yet for Bansko.

The town of Bansko is situated at the foothills of the beautiful Pirin Mountains which are a national reserve and are included on the world natural heritage list. Today Bansko is the biggest, first-class mountain resort in Bulgaria. It has the best snow record and the longest ski season (15 Dec - 15 May) of all Bulgarian ski resorts.
All ski slopes are in a wooded area, which protects them from strong winds and allows for a constant temperature helping the snow cover. All slopes have been approved by the International Ski Federation as suitable for competition. The ski pistes are located in two main ski centres CHALIN VALOG (1100-1600m) and SHILIGARNIKA (1700-2500m). They are approximately 10 kilometres above the town.

45 snow cannons covering over 50% of the ski runs. Bansko offers its guests a unique 16 km of uninterrupted ski run, starting from Todorka Peak (2600 m) at the highest point of the ski center, all the way to base station of the Gondola lift in Bansko (incredible). The last 7 km of the slope are flood lit, and the entire facility is equipped with artificial snow machines to ensure a great skiing experience even in warmer conditions.
